Elisa Jochum is a PhD candidate in Film Studies in the Centre of Multidisciplinary & Intercultural Inquiry at UCL. Her PhD thesis “Letterboxed” traces the cinematic representation of postal spaces. She investigates public and residential letterboxes, letter-slots, as well as post offices across Great Britain, Germany, and the U.S.A. Her interdisciplinary approach intertwines film studies with architectural history and built environment studies. Elisa spent the spring term 2015 as a Visiting Assistant in Research at Yale University. She holds an MA with Distinction in Film Studies from UCL. Previously, she received a BA in Communications/Media Studies (“Publizistik”) and Film Studies from Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz, Germany.
